Dental Fillings
Cosmetic Fillings
The Best Dental Center in Bahrain!
A Cosmetic filling helps you to restore a damaged tooth decay back to its normal function and shape, and helps prevent further decay by eliminating areas where bacteria can enter the tooth. Your dentist will consider a number of factors when choosing which type of filling material is best for you; this includes the extent of the repair, whether you have allergies to certain dental materials, where in your mouth the filling is needed and the cost. Dental Fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down from misuse (such as from nail-biting or tooth grinding).
What steps are involved in filling a tooth? First, the dentist will numb the area around the tooth with a local anesthetic. Next, a drill, air abrasion instrument or laser will be used to remove the decayed area. The choice of instrument depends on the individual dentist’s comfort level, training, and investment in the particular piece of equipment as well as location and extent of the decay. Next, your dentist will probe or test the area during the decay removal process to determine if all the decay has been removed. Once the decay has been removed, your dentist will prepare the space for the filling by cleaning the cavity of bacteria and debris.
If the decay is near the root, your dentist may first put in a liner made of glass ionomer, composite resin, or other material to protect the nerve. Generally, after the filling is in, your dentist will finish and polish it.
Gap Closure (Bonding)
The Best Dental Center in Bahrain!
Gap Closure offers a relatively easy method of closing small gaps between teeth. With the hep of bonding, a tooth-colored material called composite resin is bonded to the teeth to change their shape and color. How long the bonding lasts varies between patients, it is usually between three to seven years. Since the composite resin is micro-mechanically bonded to the tooth, it’s very secure. We can match a wide range of tooth colors and the end result blends in perfectly when the proper shade is selected.
Gap Closure or Bonding is relatively easy to repair or replace when the resin becomes chipped or stained. Anesthetic may or may not be needed, and the whole procedure is done in one appointment. When compared to the other methods, bonding is probably the easiest and quickest option, but the material stains more easily and wears more quickly when compared to others.
